London Riots

London's burning!

Dreadful scenes from the streets of London this morning after a third night of rioting. There has been violence, looting and arson on a huge scale across the city, which although no stranger to unrest, hasn't seen anything on this scale for many years, if ever.

So what does this mean for visitors and those looking for accommodation in London? Well at present the rioting has been limited to certain neighborhoods which are:

  • Tottenham
  • Hackney
  • East Ham
  • Enfield
  • Camden
  • Ealing
  • Clapham
  • Brixton
  • Peckham
  • Woolwich
  • Lewisham
  • Croydon
These areas are mostly outside the very centre of the city and are best avoided at the moment. The violence has been targeted at the police and commercial properties that have been looted, rather than individuals so as long as you aren't actually caught up in a crowd of rioters there is little risk to those not involved.

The rest of London, the vast majority of the city, is calm and everyone is carrying on their business as usual. If you are working in the City, shopping or visiting attractions in the West End then you would have no idea that there were any problems at all in the city's suburbs.

So little to worry about at the moment as long as you steer clear of the areas mentioned above.

It is business as usual of course here at Red Residential! None of the areas where we have properties to let have been effected and today we will be viewing properties in Pimlico, West Kensington, Hammersmith and Bayswater.
